1. Scrum Meetings Template
Step up as the Chief Chaos Coach in your business, coaching your people from disorganized chaos to organized chaos. If you don't, you risk that no one else will. In my experience, the #1 thing you can do immediately to organize chaos, by revving up your organizational clock-speed and finding the agile middle, is instigate a scrum meeting of your executive leadership team, weekly or perhaps even daily. I do both. Here is a design template for that. I did that with the first business for which I became CEO back in 1994 and every business I ever ran since, including today. Trust me, when done well, you won't regret it. Meetings are at the core of your agility operating system because they drive conversation-flow.
Well run Scrum Meetings can have an immediate big impact upon your agility as a team and an organization (which is why they are item #1 on the list). But they can easily devolve into just going through the motions and being a source of Wheel$pin not Traction and Triage (which is item #2 on the list). To get more inspiration, tools and frameworks to master Scrum Meetings, join my Agile Learning Forum for less than $1/day. Including:
2. Visual Triage
Step up as the Chief Triage Facilitator in your business, facilitating your people from partial triage to full triage. If you don't, you risk that no one else will. The best way to facilitate Triage is visually. There is a reason why a cockpit is a very visual place. Think control room of a nuclear power station. There is no right or wrong best way to do it, just discovering your way by just getting started and iterating from there to see what works in facilitating full triage with your team. Here is some inspiration for that which you can share with your team. In my experience, your wall space if one of the least utilized and most valuable assets in your business. You should have seen my office on offshore oil rigs! And you can replicate all of this virtually with all of the technology platforms available these days.
Triage is tough to manage well, easily devolving into Partial-Triage not Full-Triage. To get more inspiration, tools and frameworks to master Triage, join my Agile Learning Forum for less than $1/day. Including:
3. Agile SWOT Analysis
Step up as the Chief Insight Trainer in your business, training your people to be learning from foresight not hindsight. If you don't, you risk that no one else will. A regular SWOT analysis doesn't cut it any more these days in a world of accelerating VUCA. We must be VUCA radar scanning and assessing our VUCA readiness with our Agility strengths and weaknesses, and what we can do to maximize our strengths and mitigate our weaknesses, with foresight not hindsight. Hindsight is so expensive.
Doing a comprehensive Agile SWOT Analysis is hard to do well in a sustained way, easily devolving into only seeing clear and present dangers and opportunities, not unpresent dangers and opportunities. To get more inspiration, tools and frameworks to sustain comprehensive Agile SWOT Analysis, join my Agile Learning Forum for less than $1/day. Including:
4. Luck Primer
Step up as the Chief Luck Consultant in your business, helping your people change their relationship with luck from bad luck by accident to good luck by design. If you don't, you risk that no one else will. Luck is a huge factor in agility. Just ask a fighter pilot, Navy Seal, fire fighter or Petroleum Engineer on offshore oil rigs. But luck is a lot less random than you think. Here is a primer to use with your team.
Changing your relationship with luck is not easy. To get more inspiration, tools and frameworks to help make luck a reliable and predictable factor, join my Agile Learning Forum for less than $1/day. Including:
5. Meetings Matrix
Step up as the Chief Journey Architect in your business, even more than you already are, helping your people go good macro-management and good micro-management. If you don't, you risk that no one else will. Like it or lump it, meetings are at the core of that and your agility operating system because they drive conversation flow. But meetings are a mess in many businesses and a source of wheel$pin not traction, fragility not agility, "meetiocrity" not agile productivity. Conversation-flows you don't drive proactively and pre-emptively, you will have reactively and post-emptively, quite possibly in a crisis. A well designed matrix of the right agile meetings drives the conversation-flows to do the work of crisis without the crisis!
Meetings are a mess and a massive source of Wheel$pin in most companies, which can cost you a $fortune. To get more inspiration, tools and frameworks to master Agile Meetings, join my Agile Learning Forum for less than $1/day. Including:
